Here are a few “fast facts” about the new boardwalk project in Myrtle Beach:
  • The Myrtle Beach boardwalk and promenade is 1.2 miles long.
  • It took nine months to build.
  • The cost was about $6,400,000.
  • It used 770,000 board-feet of lumber. Hence the term “Walking the Boards.”
  • It needed 270,000 nails, 555,000 screws and 10,000 bolts to tie it al together.
  • There are 600 new palmetto trees planted beside or near the boardwalk.
  • 50,000 new beach grass seedlings planted on the dunes for beauty, protection and conservation.
We certainly hope you enjoy walking the boards - as an estimated “several” million people per year will.
