Through wars, numerous hurricanes, and even the closing of it’s close friend, The Myrtle Beach Pavilion, The Bowery, has been a Myrtle Beach music institution since 1944. Located just off the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, The Bowery has entertained millions and it’s bartenders have probably tapped more mugs of beer than just about anywhere else.
From the months of March to October, The Bowery is open 7 days a week, 11am to 4am. The music starts rocking at 8:30 and the joint really jumps to life. It’s fun, lively, entertaining and most of all, relaxing.
The Bowery house band from 1973-1980 was this country rock group named Alabama, who went on to sale millions of albums and win dozens of Country Music Awards such as ‘Entertainer of the Year’ and ‘Vocal Group of the Year’ just to name a few. The group considers The Bowery their home. Alabama was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005. Did I mention they had 32 Number 1 hits!
The current house band, The Bounty Hunters have picked up right where Alabama left off. The groups fiddle player Philip Swaby, is a classically trained violinist who can just rock out a fiddle with the best of them. He truly is amazing, especially his rendition of the Charlie Daniels Band hit, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”.
